Description

The Software Architecture Laboratory (SAL), headed by Francesco Tisato, focuses on base and applied research in the field of software architectures.

The main objective of SAL is to define, develop and experiment architectural models, methodologies, and tools facing the challenges of emerging application domains.

SAL activities range from basic research to applications including:

  • basis research, aimed at defining innovative architectural models

  • pilot projects, aimed at developing prototypal platforms that both reify the devised models and experiment emerging technologies

  • applications, aimed at transferring the acquired knowledge into solutions of concrete problems through close collaboration with productive realities and end users

The experiences gained from applicative projects provide the insight of emerging and critical issues, which influence the SAL research themes. A large number of SAL activities dealing with both pilot projects and applications are carried on with the collaboration of the Consorzio Milano Ricerche.
