Secure Memories and Applications Related Technologies (SMART)

Related Areas: Applied Research

The mission of the SMART project is to define and develop new HW and firmware technologies for the secure storage and communication of large and multi-form data.

The project address four main challenges of prevailing SSD devices: 1) new generation Non-Volatile Memories (NVMs) of high capacity and secure architecture, 2) related crypto engines with configurable firmware and 3) resistance to state of the art attacks.

The main activitiy of SAL on SMART regard the re-targeting of the GCC tool chain (compiler, assembler, linker) for supporting a custom micro-controller developed by Micron which manages non-volatile memories.
